Common lambsquarters, a broadleaf plant, is among the most common summer annuals. It is found throughout California up to an elevation of 5900 feet (1800 m) and inhabits agricultural land and other disturbed areas. Generally common lambsquarters is considered edible. However under certain conditions, plant production of oxalates can increase to levels toxic to livestock when large amounts of leaves are consumed in a short time period. Common lambsquarter is also susceptible to many viruses that affect several crops and ornamentals. These include beet curly top; potato viruses X, M, and S; ringspot viruses of tomato, pepper, potato, Prunus species, and mulberry; and mosaic viruses of alfalfa, bean, beet, barley, lettuce, cucumber, squash, eggplant, hops, primula, watermelon, and wisteria. Many species of small mammals and birds consume the seeds Bull thistle is a widespread biennial thistle orginally from Europe and Asia, but now introduced throughout North America. Although it is intimidating in appearance and can sometimes form large infestations, this thistle is not as challenging to control as many others and is mainly a problem in hay fields and pastures. Wax myrtle is a member of the Myricaceae family. This tree is also known as candleberry, Southern bayberry, Southern wax myrtle or bayberry. Wax myrtle is grown from New Jersey south and west to Texas, Oklahoma, Mexico and Central America. This tree is also found in may parts of the Caribbean.Female Myrtle’s will bear fruit berries that grow in clusters, and are green with an attractive bluish-white wax coating that lends them a vaporous gray appearance. The fruit matures in the fall and remains throughout winter, attracting a multitude of birds. Dandelion is a plant that grows wild all over the world. It is best known in North America as the weed that pops up in newly mowed lawns. The root is the main part of the plant used for medicinal purposes. Two-year-old plants have roots with the highest concentration of beneficial compounds and are dug up at that point to be used in preparations Loaded with vitamins A, C, D and B, dandelions also contain iron, magnesium, manganese, calcium, boron and potassium. Powerful antioxidants in dandelions help fight cancer and heart disease.The use of dandelions isn't new. Chinese medical practitioners used them to treat digestive and low milk flow problems for nursing mothers. Europeans used it to treat and heal boils, diarrhea and fevers. Native Americans boiled dandelions and used the liquid to help cure kidney disease, skin problems and digestive disorders. Resin oozing from a cut pine tree Common in most of the United States and Canada, pine trees also grow in other parts of the world, such as China. There are several varieties of pine trees which all will leach a sap when they have been damaged or scratched called resin, also called pitch. Pine resin has a host of different uses: as a sealant, glue, and varnish. There are as well several medicinal uses of pine resin. A variety of herbs and herbal remedies help to reduce or stop bleeding caused from topical cuts and injuries to internal bleeding such as that caused by menstruation or injuries, coughing up blood and blood in stools and urine. Many ancient herbal remedies may prove effective for such conditions, and may be utilized with contemporary medical practices. The Balsam Fir Tree is a cone shaped with common names of Balsam Fir or Christmas Tree. It reaches a height up to twenty meters when fully grown.It has a grayish colored bark that is smooth and dotted with resin filled vesicles.
